NOPD: SUV stolen in Marigny armed carjacking

New Orleans police are searching for an SUV with Wyoming plates that was stolen during a carjacking in the Marigny on Sunday.

NOPD investigators say that carjacking happened around 3:30 p.m. on Mandeville Street near Chartres Street.

Investigators say the victim was sitting in a 2017 Nissan Murano when the suspect walked up, pulled a black semi-automatic pistol with a silver slide and barrel, and pointed it at the victim. The suspect ordered the victim to hand over the vehicle, and the victim complied. The suspect then drove away on Mandeville Street towards St. Claude Avenue.

Police described the suspect only as an “unknown Black male.” The stolen SUV has a Wyoming license plate with the number 45250.
