A ride on a New York City Ferry will cost New Yorkers extra starting Monday. The city claims this initiative will help frequent riders maintain low-cost, one-way fares. Regular ticket prices will rise from $4 to $4.50. Bundles of 10 tickets will increase from $27.50 to $29, averaging out to match the cost of a one-way subway or bus fare. A one-way ticket will now cost 10 cents more, raising the price from $1.35 to $1.45. The ferry's discount program available to seniors, low-income riders and people with disabilities will also see a fare hike. High school students can now access reduced fares to get to school through the
Student Discount Program - New York City Ferry Service account portal. The city says these changes will support Mayor Eric Adams' "Ferry Forward Plan" which will create a more equitable, accessible, and fiscally sustainable ferry system. "
