When my mom expressed concern about me leaving my 2-year-old son for two weeks, I couldn’t help but think, "When will I ever get this chance again?" My best friend from Miami had come to visit me, and we had the opportunity to explore some of Europe’s lesser-known hidden gems. It was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that allowed me to recharge and experience places I had only dreamt of visiting.

    Cretan Dream

Our journey began in Crete, where we stayed at the luxurious Cretan Dream Resort & Spa. From the moment we arrived, I felt a sense of calm. We were welcomed with a relaxing massage and a soak in the tub, and the stunning views of Stalos Beach immediately set the tone for a serene getaway.

We spent our days exploring the island’s beautiful Botanical Park and Gardens, enjoying the quiet beauty of Elafonissi Beach, and even indulging in a private wine tasting amid olive orchards. The evenings were filled with delicious meals at Aphrodite Restaurant, where every bite felt like a celebration of the island’s rich flavors.

One of the highlights of our time in Crete was a lively Cretan Theme Night, where we joined other guests in traditional dances, forming a circle across the property, all while embracing the island's cultural spirit. We also toured the Old Venetian Harbour, explored Leather Alley for a bit of shopping, and spent a day at the breathtaking Blue Lagoon of Balos.

    Palazzo di Varignana

Our next destination was Palazzo di Varignana, nestled in the picturesque hills of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The resort seamlessly blended historic charm with modern luxury, offering everything from infinity pools and saunas to personalized wellness programs. We explored the resort’s private vineyards and enjoyed truffle-hunting adventures while savoring the resort’s farm-to-table dining experiences.

    Can Lluc Ibiza

We then arrived at Can Lluc Hotel in Ibiza, a hidden gem that exuded luxury while remaining connected to its natural surroundings. The exclusive villas offered breathtaking views, and we enjoyed the tranquility of the island’s countryside while experiencing its vibrant culture and gastronomy.

    Chia Laguna Resort

In Sardinia, we stayed at Chia Laguna Resort, where the natural beauty of the golden beaches and pink flamingo-filled lagoons was awe-inspiring. Our time there was filled with delicious meals, live music, and leisurely beach days, making it the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature.

    Sicily Adler

In Sicily, we stayed at ADLER Spa Resort, where I immersed myself in the stunning landscape and relaxed at their eco-friendly spa. From healthy breakfasts to a gin-tasting tour, my time there was a perfect blend of wellness and indulgence.

    Granada at La Esperanza

Our journey continued in Granada, Spain, where we stayed at the beautiful La Esperanza, a hacienda surrounded by lush gardens and forests. A visit to the Alhambra transported us back in time, offering a glimpse into Spain’s rich history.

    Venice with The Tour Guy

A highlight of our trip was a culinary experience with The Tour Guy in Venice, where we were treated to a home-cooked meal in a Venetian home. The intimate setting and delicious homemade pasta made this experience truly memorable.

    Lisbon at Palácio do Governador

Our final stop was Lisbon, Portugal, where my parents joined me, giving us a chance to explore the city together. We stayed at the stunning Palácio do Governador, a beautifully restored palace steeped in history, and marveled at the iconic sites in the historic Belém district.

Taking this two-week vacation was not easy, but it was necessary. I returned home rejuvenated, ready to celebrate my son’s second birthday with renewed energy. This trip reminded me that as a parent, it’s important to take time for yourself and return stronger for the ones who depend on you. Whether you’re a new mom or an empty nester, everyone deserves a break.
