New FL 55 & Up Community Near The Mayo Clinic Is Planned - Near Olive Garden, Dunkin' & Culver's

Because Florida is right behind Maine in the states with the largest numbers of retirees, many Floridians live in 55 plus communities. And Florida has some well-known retirement communities. I've written about some of the better-known communities - such as the Villages and Sun City Center. Some residents in Jacksonville may be interested in a new 55-plus community, Glen Kernan Park, that will be both by the Mayo Clinic and several restaurants.

About Glen Kernan Park: This 55-plus community is a mixed-use development that will include apartments, townhomes, and cottages plus retail dining, and entertainment.

Amenities of the $95.9 million project close to the Mayo Clinic will include a pond, a fitness center, a dog park, and a resort-style pool. Each unit will also reportedly have washer and dryers, vinyl tile flooring, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances.

An Olive Garden Has Just Been Submitted Plans And Will Join Several Other Retailers In The Community: Civil plans were recently filed for a 237-seat Olive Garden Italian Kitchen that will join the community (if approved.)

Other businesses that are planned close by or as part of the community are an Embassy Suites hotel, Dunkin, Culvers, and Slim Chickens.

The community is also across the street from Publix-anchored Windsor Commons Shopping Center. The first units will reportedly be available in the summer of 2025.

The community will be located at 12931 Whisperleaf Terrace, Jacksonville, FL, 32224, in Duval County. I could not find any pricing information.
