“I haven’t ever said this but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” she told the outlet .

“I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy.”

“That was something I had to grieve for a while,” she admitted.

Selena , 32, said that this was not the way she envisioned becoming a parent one day.

“I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,” she said.

Selena is open to adoption, as her mother was adopted as a baby.

“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”

Before dating Benny, Selena was single for five years and set a goal to start a family by the age of 35.

Until then, she enjoys being a godmother to her cousin Priscilla’s two children.

    RING, RING, RING?

However, it doesn’t appear that Selena is in any rush to hop into marriage and start a family.

Her family is not pressuring her into marriage and she is not pressuring Benny, 36.

“We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules,” she said.

“I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.”

Selena also revealed that she won’t change her last name when she gets married.

I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy.

“I am Selena Gomez. That’s it,” she said.

However, in May, Benny told Howard Stern that he hoped he and Selena would get married one day.

    ‘HE’S MY BEST FRIEND’

Selena opened up more about her relationship with Benny, calling him a “light.”

“I’ve never been loved this way,” she revealed.

“He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”

Selena and Benny have known each other for years and have collaborated on her 2015 hit Same Old Love and the 2019 collaboration I Can’t Get Enough with J. Balvin and Tainy.

    SELENA’S HEALTH ISSUES

As the recent self-made billionaire plows through movies , shows, music , makeup , and more, she is struggling with medical issues.

One of the medical conditions she lives with is lupus, which is a chronic autoimmune disease that can attack joints, skin, organs, and other parts of the body, according to the Lupus Foundation of America.

She was diagnosed with the disease in 2013, revealing the news in a 2015 interview with Billboard .

The announcement came after she ended her 2013 tour to check herself into a rehab center to undergo treatment.

“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” Selena told the outlet.

Chemotherapy can be used to treat different forms of lupus.

Selena told People in 2016 that she was experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, and depression because of the disease.

    KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

As a result of her lupus, the singer had to undergo a kidney transplant in 2017.

“So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health,” she shared on Instagram at the time.

Her friend and actress Francia Raisa donated her new kidney to Selena.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis,” Selena wrote.

The transplant helped move her lupus into remission.

However, she revealed in her AppleTV+ documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me that she had a flare-up in 2020.

In the documentary , she shared that her physical pain was affecting her mental health.

    MY MIND AND ME

After struggling with lupus, Selena announced in 2020 that she was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder with Miley Cyrus on her Instagram show, Bright Minded.

“I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar, and so when I got to know more information, it actually helps me,” Selena said.

“It doesn’t scare me once I know it. I think people get scared of that, right?”

However, she told The Wall Street Journal that January that she was taking medication which really helped her.

Selena revealed to Vanity Fair that she still struggles with her mental health “but now has tools and protocols to take care of herself.”
