The latest College Football Playoff predictions from On3's Andy Staples have the Tennessee Vols hosting a revenge game in the first round.

Staples has the Vols as a No. 6 seed in his Week 2 playoff predictions after Tennessee's dominant 51-10 win against NC State in Charlotte this past weekend.

And in the first round, he has the Vols hosting the Missouri Tigers.

From On3 : The Volunteers humiliated N.C. State and made it look easy. Nico Iamaleava threw two interceptions, but that was the only blemish on an otherwise ultra-efficient day for the Tennessee offense. Iamaleava averaged 9.2 yards per attempt and threw two touchdown passes, and he and Dylan Sampson led a rushing attack that averaged 5.7 yards a carry and rolled up 249 yards. Meanwhile, the Vols’ defense held the Wolfpack to 39 rushing yards and made N.C. State quarterback Grayson McCall miserable.

Tennessee was embarrassed by Missouri in Columbia last season, losing 36-7 to the Tigers in a game that got away from the Vols in the second half.

After the game, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz met Vols head coach Josh Heupel at mid field for a post-game handshake and said "We stand on business, Josh".

Earlier this offseason, Tigers safety TreVez Johnson showed up to Missouri media day wearing a shirt that read "Tennessee state champs".

Johnson caught some heat for wearing that shirt because the Vols aren't on Missouri's schedule in 2024 (it's easy to talk trash when you don't have to play the team you're talking trash about).

Hosting Mizzou in a playoff game would almost certainly be a dream come true for Heupel and his team. I'm sure they're itching for revenge after Drinkwitz's "we stand on business" comment and Johnson's fashion choice for media day.

Of course, there are still a lot of games left to be played this season. Tennessee and Missouri both have to take care of business for a post-season showdown to even be a possibility.
