Daniel Jones was disastrous in his return from ACL surgery, completing just 22 of 42 passes for a miserable 44.3 quarterback rating, while throwing two interceptions and zero touchdowns in a blowout loss to the Vikings.

After dismantling the Minnesota defense in the playoffs two years ago, Jones looked lost on Sunday, failing to convert a touchdown in any of the three drives that died in the red zone, including an interception in which Jones threw an inexplicable ball into tight coverage.

For Boomer, Jones’ performance was more evidence that Jones will be benched if he can’t clean up the mental errors.

“That one interception in the end zone, there’s three Viking defenders there,” Boomer said. “It was like he locked in and was gonna throw it. The end result is another interception. It’s a killer.

“This stuff, it’s got to stop. It’s got to stop, or you’re not going to play anymore. If Brian Daboll wants to save his job, you cannot continue with this kind of indiscretion. The interceptions are killers, man.”

Boomer pointed to the frustrating interception by Jones in his preseason debut as well, and how the quarterback seems to be struggling with decision making, which is disastrous for a player at that position, and he won’t be there much longer if that kind of play continues.

“Daniel Jones is ‘skittish.’ Nervous, worried,” Boomer said. “I don’t know if it’s the knee or it’s just who he is as a player. It was cringe watching it. It was hard to watch…you cannot turn the ball over. Brian Daboll’s head was gonna explode yesterday.”
