Florida City, FL - An early Saturday morning crash left a teen injured after an SUV crashed into a Florida City home around 1:30 a.m.

According to police, the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when an out-of-control SUV plowed into a residence, striking a bedroom where a 17-year-old boy was sleeping.

Miraculously, the teen escaped with minor injuries.

Emergency crews, including Florida City Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, responded to the scene and transported the injured teen to Jackson South Medical Center.

Neighbors told investigators they heard a loud impact and expressed concern for the safety of the family living inside the home.

As a result of Saturday’s crash, the front passenger side of the SUV was severely damaged and a large hole was left in the residence.

Residents in the neighborhood have voiced concerns about speeding vehicles in the area, calling for safety measures such as fences or speed bumps to prevent future accidents.

An investigation into Saturday’s accident is ongoing.
