    Kate Middleton completes ‘incredibly tough’ chemotherapy, says she’s on the ‘path to healing’ after cancer battle

    Kate Middleton announced Monday that she is cancer-free.

    “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” the Princess of Wales said in a statement shared on social media alongside a new video at home with her husband, Prince William, and their three children .

    “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

    Middleton, 42, called her cancer journey “complex, scary and unpredictable” and said her current focus is to do what she can to “stay cancer free.”

    “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she said.

    The royal expressed her excitement to attend more public engagements in the coming months, sharing that she has a “renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.”

    “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time,” she said, adding, “Everyone’s kindness, empathy and compassion has been truly humbling.”

    Middleton shocked the world when she first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March after rumors swirled surrounding her health due to her long absence from public events.

    At the time, she shared that she had been undergoing chemo, though she did not specify what kind of cancer she was battling.

    The princess admitted in a video statement that the diagnosis “came as a huge shock” and that she and her husband, William, 42, wanted to handle her illness privately for the sake of their kids: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

    “As I have said to them , I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body and spirits,” she said.

    Middleton stayed out of the public eye and continued to conduct her royal duties from bed as she fought her cancer, which she said was discovered in its “early stages.”

    A friend of the royal family shared in May that the princess had “turned a corner” with her treatment .

    “It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” the insider told Vanity Fair at the time.

    Middleton made her first public appearance at the Trooping the Colour celebration in June, where she was seen sharing a laugh with King Charles III , who is also battling cancer , on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with her husband and kids.

    A month later, the princess made a surprise showing at the 2024 Wimbledon tennis championships .
