Nicole Kidman Checked In With Her Best Friend Naomi Watts Before Agreeing To Play Naomi’s Ex Liev Schreiber’s Onscreen Wife

Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman were just teenagers when they met for the first time at an audition for an “’80s swimsuit commercial,” and while neither of them ended up booking the job, they both went on to enjoy glittering acting careers — as well as a decades-long friendship.

https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=23GZN8_0vPz0gIV00 — Speaking at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala earlier this year, Naomi reflected on their first meeting, saying of the time that they waited at the audition: "We covered everything, what movies we loved, what friends we had in common, our parents, schools, parties, boyfriends, teenage stuff.”
Naomi then revealed that she was “scared” because she’d missed the bus back home, and was touched when Nicole offered to drop her off on her way home in a taxi “even though it was 20 minutes out of her way and it was an extra $15.00 on the meter."
The two women ended up growing even closer when they were both cast in the Australian coming-of-age movie *Flirting* in 1991, with Naomi stating that this job is what really solidified their friendship.
Ever since, Nicole and Naomi have been best friends, and have supported each other through both their professional careers and personal lives over the years.

And this level of friendship is obviously not without loyalty, with it now being revealed that Nicole checked in with Naomi before accepting a role as Naomi’s ex Liev Schreiber ’s onscreen wife in the new Netflix limited series The Perfect Couple.

They are thought to still be on good terms after their split, and they both married other people last year; Naomi tied the knot with Billy Crudup, and Liev wed Taylor Neisen.

Still, Nicole was sure to put girl code above all else when the role came her way, and it was actually Liev who exposed this during a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight promoting the show.

Liev then added to the journalist: “Isn’t that amazing? That’s how close they are.”

And Naomi also commented on this in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the Toronto International Film Festival.
