The Colorado Buffaloes had a rough Week 2 showing against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, getting blown out 28-10.

However, while the loss itself hurts, one of their star players also went down with an injury. Safety and son of head coach Deion Sanders, Shilo Sanders, was revealed to have sustained a forearm injury during the first quarter of the game.

On Monday, Deion Sanders took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to send a message to his son, while also providing somewhat of an update.

Following the first half, the head coach spoke to NBC's Kathryn Tappen and provided an update on the injury.

"Think broken forearm or something like that," Deion Sanders said. "So he won’t be back here."

Following the game, Sanders changed his tune on the injury a bit. The head coach revealed he wasn't sure how serious the injury was.

"I don’t know the extent of the injury," Sanders said . "But I know he did something to his forearm that put him out for the rest of the game."

It still remains unclear how long the sixth-year senior will be out with the injury, but Colorado's defense would love to have him back as soon as possible. He led the team in tackles last season, becoming the ninth defensive back in program history to do so. He also led the team with four forced-fumbles in 2023.

Even despite missing a majority of the game on Saturday, Shilo Sanders is still fourth on the team in tackles.

With the loss of their leader on the back end, Colorado will likely turn to Vanderbilt and Miami transfer Savion Riley.

The Buffs will be on the road again in Week 3, this time taking on in-state rival Colorado State.
