Bears could lose phenom to unfortunate injury after win, per insider

The Chicago Bears started the 2024 National Football League regular season off with a win just as they hoped.

Chicago took on the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 action and came away with its first win of the season to kick off the Caleb Williams era. The game certainly wasn't pretty, but the Bears found a way to win and came out on top, 24-17.

Although the Week 1 win is fantastic, it seems like the Bears may not have come away completely healthy afterward. Bears rookie receiver Rome Odunze reportedly will undergo an MRI on his knee on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Bears (head coach) Matt Eberflus said (wide receiver) Rome Odunze will undergo an MRI today on his knee," Schefter said.

Hopefully, the injury ends up being nothing. Odunze is expected to play a solid role in the Bears' offense this season barring any significant injuries. He didn't have a major impact on the game against the Titans, but he did have one catch on four targets for 11 yards.

Chicago's passing game wasn't strong against the Titans and only should get better as the weeks pass and Williams gets comfortable under center. Hopefully, the Bears won't have to miss the young playmaker for very long and the MRI comes back clean.

Chicago will return to the field on Sunday, September 15th for Week 2 action against the Houston Texans at 8:20 p.m. ET.
