Baby Cow With a Head Full of Curls Is Turning Heads and Stealing Hearts

Cows come in a surprising number of shapes, colors, and sizes. When you're little, you swear that there are two kinds of cows: regular cows and the brown ones, which is obviously where you get chocolate milk from. One of the most disappointing moments of childhood is, unfortunately, learning that this is not true.

On Saturday, September 7th, though, some of the magic of cows was returned to us. After seeing this sweet little baby with a head full of curly hair, it's hard to be mad at cows for lying to us all those years ago:

I wish Grass Puppies Farm was accepting visitors. I would show up just to pet this curly boy!

The good boy in this video's name is Oreo, and he's a mini Highland cow who lives on Grass Puppies Farm in Alabama. Whether or not they'll ever sell him hasn't been decided yet, but one thing is for sure: if they do, his forever family will have a TikTok star on their hands. Everyone loves him!

He inherited those sweet curls from his parents, who both have pretty long hairpieces covering their eyes most of the way. Eventually, that's exactly what his curls will become, but for now they're perfect. He looks like he just got a perm!

How to Keep Up With Longhaired Cows

Highland cows are highly desirable, especially the mini ones, and especially for small hobby farms. This farm name says it all: they truly are just like little grass puppies. They're friendly, get along well with their herds, and most of all, they're so adorable it should be illegal.

However, that doesn't mean they're easy. Highland cows can withstand some tough conditions (they're named for the Scottish Highlands, where they're native) because of their thicker coats, but those coats also require a lot of maintenance. If you have a Highland cow, mini or not, you'll want to:

    1. Brush them, especially during big sheds.
    2. Keep their headpieces trimmed above their eyes so it doesn't impede their vision.
    3. Continually check them for signs of matting, as uncomfortable knots near the skin could turn them aggressive.

You may actually need to give them baths sometimes, too. While regular cows can usually remove dirt and debris from their coats without help, it's harder for Highlands! When you're considering getting one, consider this: can you handle a Golden Doodle who's approximately three or more times the size of a Golden Doodle? If not, it may not be the best idea!
