NFL insider believes Bengals will be without one of their star players for Week 2 vs. Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs could be facing the Cincinnati Bengals at less-than-full-strength for their Week 2 tilt at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Bengals WR Tee Higgins was added to the injury report late last week with a hamstring injury . He was listed as doubtful for their Week 1 game against the New England Patriots and was ultimately made inactive for the game.

ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter recently appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" and was asked to weigh in on Higgins' status after missing Week 1. Schefter told McAfee and company that he'd be surprised to see Higgins play in Week 2 due to the hamstring injury.

"Hamstring injury," Schefter said. "He got a hamstring injury. We'll see how the week plays out, but I'll be surprised if he plays this week against the Chiefs."

Higgins, of course, was franchise-tagged this offseason and held out for a portion of time, missing portions of training camp and the preseason. The Bengals did not reach an agreement on a long-term extension by the NFL's July 15 deadline.

There's no reason to suspect this injury is something fabricated to show dismay for his contract situation, but either way, it's bad news for Cincinnati. In five career games against Kansas City, Higgins has 19 receptions for 302 yards and two touchdowns. He's proven to be very important to their offensive attack.

When you consider that Ja'Marr Chase also held out for a new contract this offseason and recorded just six receptions for 62 yards in Week 1 during the upset loss to the Patriots, things look even more dire for this AFC North opponent.
