The Minnesota Twins’ top prospect has officially climbed all the way to Double-A in his first full professional season.

Walker Jenkins was promoted from High-A Cedar Rapids to Double-A Wichita on Monday.

Jenkins, who is still just 19 years old, was the fifth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.

Not only is he rated as the top prospect in Minnesota’s system but he’s also a consensus top 100 prospect, rated No. 3 in baseball by MLB Pipeline.

His promotion comes the day after the High-A season ended so it gives him another week to play before the Wind Surge wrap up their season this weekend.

Across 76 games this season between the Florida Complex League Twins, Single-A Ft. Myers and High-A, Jenkins has hit .293/.406/.461 with six home runs, 57 RBI, 21 doubles and 53 walks compared to 43 strikeouts. He’s also swiped 15 bases in 18 tries.

Over his 34 games at High-A, the 6-foot-3 outfielder slashed .290/.382/.481 with three homers, 17 RBI, 12 doubles, 17 walks and eight stolen bases with 24 strikeouts.

Jenkins still isn’t expected to reach the majors for a couple more years but has been a fast-riser and it’s not impossible that he could sneak into the majors before the end of next season.
