Amber Alert canceled after missing 4-year-old girl found safe

ORIGINAL STORY

An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing child.

Authorities reported Monday afternoon that 4-year-old Laney Landry was possibly abducted by Rand Gruber, a man with no custodial rights to the child.

Gruber is alleged to have taken Laney to search for artifacts in the area of Bachman Grade in Owyhee County and that he would return the child at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Gruber is believed to be operating a white 2010 Ford Escape with the license plate 1ALZN3U.

Gruber is described as being a 55-year-old white man that is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 200 lbs. He has brown hair and green eyes.

Laney is described as being a 4-year-old black girl that is 3 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 45 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Laney's mother has been unable to reach Gruber and law enforcement has not been able to locate them.

Anyone who sees Gruber or the suspect vehicle is asked to dial 911.
