Apple AirPods 4 debuts: USB-C port, and a second model with ANC

Apple has finally refreshed the AirPods line with the AirPods 4 . It has an open-ear design and is, according to Apple, the most comfortable AirPods model ever. The company also proclaims a massive improvement in the audio quality and support for personalized spatial audio.

The catch is that the new AirPods 4 will be available in two variants. There’s an entry-level variant, known simply as the AirPods 4, and a higher-end variant, named the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation .

Apple AirPods 4-two is better than one

Apple is basically replacing both existing AirPods models but splitting the AirPods 4 line with two different earbuds.

However, while the AirPods 4 models look very similar to the AirPods 3, the design is technically new.

The highlight, however, is the upgraded audio quality courtesy of the new H2 chip, which enables premium audio features such as Voice Isolation, Personalized Spatial Audio, and more.

These features were previously exclusive to the AirPods Pro 2 model.

Now, the two AirPods 4 models are slightly different. The higher-end AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation come with, of course, ANC, Transparency Mode, and Adaptive Audio, also at a higher price.

The lower-end model, dubbed AirPods 4, lacks these features and is cheaper.

The AirPods 4 start at $129, while the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation starts at $179. Pre-orders start today, and shipping starts on September 20.
