Rochester, NH – As National Thank a Police Officer Day approaches on September 21, 2024, the community is rallying together to “Paint the City Blue” to show support for local law enforcement. Residents, businesses, and schools are encouraged to participate in a series of initiatives organized by the Thank a Rochester Cop group to express gratitude and appreciation for Rochester Police Department officers.

The campaign aims to blanket the city in blue-themed decorations and messages of thanks. Community members can purchase blue bows, LED light bulbs, and “Thank You” yard signs, which will be displayed around town. The organizers hope to see blue porch lights at night, blue bows on trees and mailboxes, and thank you signs across front lawns, all creating a city-wide display of unity and appreciation.

Businesses are encouraged to show their support by decorating their storefronts and featuring messages of thanks to RPD on their marquees. Schools will also participate by displaying supportive messages, and everyone is invited to get creative by using blue Christmas lights or other blue decorations. The community is also urged to share their displays on social media to spread the message of appreciation.

For just $1, residents can purchase a bow, LED light bulbs for $3, and “Thank You” yard signs for $5 to contribute to the campaign. Donations will be accepted to help further the efforts of this initiative.

The “Paint the City Blue” campaign provides an opportunity for Rochester residents to come together in a visual show of gratitude, helping officers feel appreciated for their service to the community. Let’s paint Rochester blue and show our officers how much we value their dedication!

For more information or to make a donation, please contact the organizers through the Thank a Rochester Cop.
