The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly signing a new punter in the wake of the season-ending injury to Cameron Johnston.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero , the Steelers are signing a familiar face in Corliss Waitman, who appeared in two games with Pittsburgh in 2021. He also appeared in 17 games for the Denver Broncos in 2022.

The Steelers lost Johnston to a season-ending injury during the Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons , when he was hit by a Falcons defender during a punt in the fourth quarter.

This will be Waitman's third stint with Pittsburgh. In the two games he appeared in for the Steelers in 2021, Waitman averaged 52.1 gross yards per punt and 42.6 net yards per punt.

With the Broncos in 2022, Waitman tallied 46.6 gross yards per punt and 41.4 net yards.

Over the past two years, he's spent time on the New England Patriots ' practice squad and was signed to a futures deal by the Chicago Bears earlier this offseason before being let go at final cuts. He hasn't played in a game since 2022.
