Pistachio Puppy Chow Will Be Your New Favorite Fancy Snack You Won't Want To Share

I think most of us are familiar with the treat lovingly named "puppy chow" or
"muddy buddies," which is basically just Chex cereal, powdered sugar, chocolate, and peanut butter. There is something so satisfying about the chocolate and peanut butter crunch with the sharp powdery sweetness of the powdered sugar coating. I got to thinking, why not experiment a little with ingredients and flavors?

This snack takes a childhood favorite and elevates the flavor to something fancy, and you'll love it! But you're not here for that. You're here for the twist.

    Pistachio.

In addition to adding a fun twist, the pistachio gives the treat an amazing green color. This would be great for Halloween or just any old time! This Pistachio Puppy Chow will be a hit no matter where or how you serve it, that I promise you!

    Ingredients

    • Rice Chex, a whole box
    • A can of condensed sweet milk
    • One stick of melted butter
    • One cup of white chocolate chips
    • Half a cup of chopped shelled pistachio nuts, salted
    • One Jello instant pistachio pudding mix box (3.4 oz).
    • Half a teaspoon of vanilla
    • Two cups of powdered sugar

    Directions:

    • Put the cereal into a big bowl or a clean paper bag.
    • Combine chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk in a large microwave-safe bowl, heat 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between.
    • Heat and stir until well combined.
    • Stir in the pudding powder until well blended, and then the salt and vanilla.
    • Pour the pudding mixture over the cereal in the bag, add the pistachios, and shake it vigorously to coat as evenly as possible.
    • You can eat it warm or cold as a snack. Store leftovers in the fridge.

    Enjoy!

Please note that while this is called Puppy Chow, it is NOT for dogs - the chocolate can cause severe illness, up to death, depending on the type of chocolate and the dog’s susceptibility.

I just eat the puppy chow out of my dogs bowl when I've had a few beers. Let me tell you, it's good.
