The Spotted Gallo

This restaurant inside a Fontainebleau shopping center has the crunchiest queso frito and one of our favorite churrascos in Miami. It’s a casual full-service restaurant with a small dining room and walls painted the colors of the Nicaraguan flag. Colorful ceramic and wire roosters perch themselves on floating shelves, watching guests eat tostones. If you’re in a rush, get the gallo bowl, which is their take on a fritanga with tender chunks of carne asada, gallo pinto, little cubes of fried cheese, maduros, and sour cream. But if you’re here for a Saturday family dinner, order their tender, juicy churrasco. It’s covered in chimichurri, dangles off the giant plate, and comes with your choice of three sides. Service is fast, so you can count the spots on the gallos in the time it takes your food to arrive.
