Greg McElroy Names Two 'Most Complete' Teams in College Football

As the 2024-25 college football plays out, fans and media members will get the chance to witness which teams are true contenders for the College Football Playoff and which teams are pretenders.

The Week 2 slate shook up the college football world, with No. 5 Notre Dame falling to an unranked Northern Illinois squad, and Top 10 Oregon barely beating unranked Boise State at home.

There were very few dominant teams in Week 2. ESPN analyst Greg McElroy recently spoke about the separation that some of the top teams are drawing out.

While he explained that the Georgia Bulldogs have been the complete team in college football, he believes the Texas Longhorns have now entered that conversation.

Following their 31-12 victory over Michigan, McElroy is putting the longhorns in the same conversation as the Georgia Bulldogs.

"Texas has officially joined Georgia as one of the most complete teams in the sport," McElroy said. "They looked like a complete team. Fast, physical, well coached."

Texas looked dominant on both sides of the ball in Ann Arbor. They outplayed the Wolverines in nearly every major statistical category.

The Longhorns had 389 total yards to Michigan's 284, 19 first-down conversions to the Wolverines' 13, and 10 third-down conversions to Michigan's three.

The Steve Sarkisian-led squad also fared well on the defensive end. They forced two interceptions and one fumble from the Wolverines.

Given their talent on both sides of the ball, a veteran quarterback in Quinn Ewers, and an experienced coach in Steve Sarkisian, McElroy believes the Texas Longhorns join Georgia as the most complete teams in college football.

Everyone talking about Texas because they beat a very overrated Michigan team. Like seriously. Texas is good but they aren’t elite!! When they have that struggle game then everyone will stop it with this madness. Every team will have a struggle game this year. Maybe not Ohio State because they don’t play nobody!!
