The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to get the win in Week 1 of the regular season against the Washington Commanders, and a lot of it was due to the great play of their rookie running back.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report , they give one takeaway from each game of the Week 1 slate. For the Bucs vs. Commanders game, their biggest takeaway is that Tampa Bay could have something special at running back.

"Now, Irving isn't a big back. He's 5-9 and 192 pounds. So, he's not a built to be a workhorse," Bleacher Report writes. "But he clearly adds some juice to the Buccaneers, which can take pressure off quarterback Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay's talented targets. Expect to see an increased usage rate for Irving as the season progresses."

White's 3.6 yards per carry in the 2023 season left a bit to be desired, so the Bucs drafted Irving in the 2024 NFL Draft in an effort to take some of the pressure off of him.

He finished the game against the Commanders with 62 rushing yards on nine carries, averaging 6.9 yards per attempt. As a result, the team was able to get White involved more in the passing game, and he finished second in receiving yards with 75.

If Irving can take some of the pressure off of White and be more efficient on the ground, it could give the Bucs a new dimension to their offense.
