A day that was highlighted by plenty of wins both in their game and in terms of their divisional standing, the only down part of Sunday for the Pittsburgh Steelers was the loss of punter Cameron Johnston.

A revelation in camp, the Steelers and Mike Tomlin feared the worst with Johnston , and that was confirmed on Monday after Tom Pelissero doubled down on Mike Tomlin's statement that Johnston's knee injury was serious and would cost him the rest of the season.

So in a corresponding move, Pittsburgh has addressed the position, and with a familiar face:

    Steelers sign Punter Corliss Waitman

The Steelers plan to sign punter Corliss Waitman, per his agent Alexa Stabler, after Cameron Johnston suffered a season-ending knee injury Sunday. It’s the third stint with Pittsburgh for Waitman, who originally signed there as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

Most recently playing for the Denver Broncos, Waitman appeared in two games for the Steelers in 2021, averaging a very strong 52 yards per punt. He know looks to aeassert himself as starting caliber player following the injury to Johnston:

"From a health standpoint, you know, Cam Johnston appears to have a serious injury, said Coach Tomlin after the game. "I'll have an update for you next time we come together. It's a shame for him, this guy has been spectacular man, and through team development. He's an absolute stud, not only in his talents, but his approach to business and so, you know, my heart goes out to him."

Hopefully, Waitman can make the most of the opportunity while Johnston rehabs.
