With Chance deciding to leave the family business, who from Billy's background could be willing to assist him run it? Billy from The Young and the Restless is having a tough time lately.
Chelsea cheated on him with Adam, he learned Lily couldn't be trusted and dismissed her from Abbott-Chancellor, and Victor continues to taunt him at every opportunity, anticipating his demise.
To make matters worse, Billy has had to deal with increasing opposition from Chance.
Chance has questioned his uncle's most recent decision-making, adding that what others have claimed about Billy is probably accurate.
Chance Quits
Chance also implied that Billy is unable to operate Abbott-Chancellor by himself. The former officer believed his honesty was justified just before giving Billy an ultimatum: either Billy made Chance co-CEO of the family firm or he left.
Billy wasn't very thrilled with the "power move," but he promised his nephew he'd think about it.
Fast forward to the September 9 episode of The Young and the Restless, when Chance arrives at Abbott-Chancellor while Billy is on a high after finalizing a large deal with the business Odessy Seven.
Chance delivers him a chilly congrats before returning to his original ultimatum. Billy isn't delighted with Chance's insistence, but he agrees to have the chat.
Unfortunately for Chance, Billy does not believe he is prepared to be his co-CEO and refuses to offer him the position. Chance is dissatisfied with the news, but Billy insists that if he doesn't like it, he can resign.
Later, Chance informs Summer that he is considering returning to the Genoa City Police Department. So, if Chance leaves, Billy will be the sole occupant of the Abbott-Chancellor executive suite.
Lily vs. Victor
Given the magnitude of the company, we believe he'll need someone at his side to assist him run it and, more crucially, to defend against Victor's impending onslaught.
That got us thinking: who might possibly help Billy? Perhaps Billy's ex will have the solution. Let us start with Phyllis. She has been unemployed for some months, is a successful businesswoman, and is a technological genius.
She is familiar with Billy, both his limitations and talents and has worked with him before. Plus, if Billy informs her that Victor is interested in Abbott-Chancellor, she would be an excellent buddy to have.
She despises Victor and would jump at the chance to humiliate him.
However, one disadvantage of Billy employing Phyllis is that she has a lengthy history of deception, and considering how much he values honesty and loyalty these days, would their collaboration be a good fit?
Then there is Lily. Yes, she's now working with Victor to bring Billy down, but we believe she'll wake up to discover that The Mustache intends to double-cross her and give Nikki the top seat at Chancellor after he buys it.
When that happens, Lily may conclude that collaborating with Billy is her best bet for maintaining control at Chancellor.
Billy treated her as an equal prior to their disagreement, despite the fact that he was her employer. Is there a chance Billy may accept Lily back if she promises fealty and offers to assist him in defeating Victor?
He may not trust her completely right now, but he knows she knows more about Chancellor than anyone else, so having her on his side is quite beneficial.
Phyllis or Lily Might Hold the Key!
If not Phyllis and Lily, perhaps now is a good moment for another of Billy's ex-partners to return to Genoa City. We are talking about Mackenzie.
She is trustworthy; her grandmother was Katherine, and she is not inexperienced in business.
Plus, with Kelly departing General Hospital, it would be an excellent opportunity for The Young and the Restless to recast her as Mackenzie and bring the character back to town.
It's worth noting that Monaco and Billy, played by Jason, have already passed the onscreen chemistry test after spending time together on General Hospital.
So, will Billy and an ex collaborate in business? We sincerely hope so. Who knows, now that he's on the outs with Chelsea, he could find love again with an old sweetheart in the near future.
