After making headlines throughout the offseason, Colorado is 1-1 after the first two weeks of the 2024 college football season.

The Buffaloes escaped with a 31-26 win over North Dakota State in Week 1 but suffered a blowout loss against Nebraska this past weekend. Colorado's offense was held to only 260 total yards and did not score a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter.

On the most recent episode of the " College GameDay Podcast ," ESPN's Rece Davis discussed Colorado's Week 3 matchup against Colorado State. He also made it clear who he thought was the best all-around player in college football after the first two weeks of the season.

"They've got a quarterback (Shedeur Sanders) who is going to be a first-round pick, who's a very talented guy," Davis said. "They've got the best football player in the country, all-around, in Travis Hunter."

Despite Colorado's struggles, Hunter has emerged as one of the early favorites for the Heisman Trophy. In two games, he has recorded 17 receptions for 242 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Defensively, he has not made a massive impact, only recording six total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass breakup.

Last season, Hunter won the Paul Hornung Award, given to the nation's most versatile player. He also earned consensus All-American honors, becoming only the second player in program history to be a consensus All-American.

He started his career at Jackson State in 2022, seeing action in eight games. Hunter was named the SWAC Freshman of the Year and earned second-team All-SWAC honors. He was also named a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, given to the top freshman at the FCS level.

Colorado will face Colorado State in a massive Week 3 matchup at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on CBS.

Look, I get he is talented, but he is not anywhere near the best player in college. Milroe, Nico, and the Boise St RB are all better. He gets the love because he plays two ways. He needs to just concentrate on receiving. Like they said, he isn't making much of a difference on defense. A ton of college Wrs ould get close or better stats playing both ways. I just don't see the big deal.
