Deputies with Lee County Sheriff's Department responded to a domestic violence call in the Auburn community at 8:25 a.m. on September 6, 2024. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found that a 57-year-old woman had been attacked by her 36-year-old son.

The woman was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center due to injuries to the right eye, according to a press release from Lee County Sheriff's Department. The injuries to the woman's eye were severe, and the suspect, identified as Gary Brandon Conway, 36, of Tupelo, has subsequently been charged with aggravated assault under the domestic violence statute.

The domestic violence case will be presented to Lee County's Grand Jury in January 2025.

According to the press release, Conway has a previous criminal history as well as known acts of violence. For this reason, combined with the aggravated circumstances of this incident, Conway's bond was set by a Lee County Justice Court Judge at $150,000.
