Stable QB Josh Allen Cleared For Week 2

Cleared for takeoff. It was never considered doubtful that QB Josh Allen would miss Week 2 vs. the Dolphins. Even QB Josh Allen, told reporters with a smile that “it will be right after the Buffalo Bills defeated the Arizona Cardinals 34-28.

In the win, Josh injured his hand while hurdling a defender on a touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter. The stalwart QB continued to play through the injury, helping lead the team to victory. Allen was cleared Monday for the pivotal AFC East matchup against division-rival Miami Dolphins.

Head Coach Sean McDermott Confirms Allen Is Cleared

Today’s press conference was confirmation that QB Josh Allen will play Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins. Josh Allen hurt his non-throwing hand hurdling a defender of the Arizona Cardinals while scoring his second rushing touchdown of the game. After the game, Allen met with the team’s athletic training staff and underwent further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury to his non-throwing hand. The medical staff determined that Josh could continue with the injury and has been cleared without any restrictions. Allen’s performance against the Arizona Cardinals proves why, year in and year out, Josh Allen is capable of being MVP of the National Football League.

Allen finished Sunday’s game completing 78.3 percent of his passes for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns to go along with his nine rushes for 39 yards and two scores.

Final Thoughts

With a fast week, the Bills must rest and recover the next few days to compete at their best against the Dolphins. Head Coach updated the media that CB Taron Johnson (forearm) and DE Dawaune Smoot (toe) will both be OUT for this week’s matchup. CB/S Cam Lewis came into the game in relief and put together a great performance. Hats off to the former University of Buffalo alum.

If Josh Allen were to miss time this season, backup QB Mitch Trubisky would be tasked with commanding the Bills offense. In the preseason, Trubisky injured his knee in the Pittsburgh Steelers game. We do not know if Trubisky is fully healthy. If Trubisky can’t go, the franchise added QB Mike White to their practice squad. He started multiple games for the New York Jets a few seasons ago. The quarterback position behind Allen is something GM Brandon Beane attempted to address in the offseason.
