Carlos Correa Drops Major Injury News Amid Two-Month Absence

The Minnesota Twins are dead smack in the middle of the American League Wild Card race, which means every single game matters right now. They've been getting by without one of their key players in shortstop Carlos Correa, but it appears he may not be far off a return.

The veteran hasn't played since July 12 due to a nagging heel injury. His latest update however is an optimistic sign for the Twins. Correa said Monday he is feeling "very encouraged" after sprinting 3 of 4 days , per The Athletic's Dan Hayes.

The infielder even approached a group of reporters and wanted to give them an update on just how good he's feeling, via Hayes.

Correa was enjoying a solid campaign before going on the shelf, hitting .308 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI in 75 contests. The 29-year-old is dealing with a case of plantar fasciitis.

The Twins are currently 76-67 and sit 3.5 games above the Detroit Tigers for the final AL Wild Card spot.

Getting back Correa before the season finishes would be huge. There are obviously steps to that happening, including a rehab assignment, but Correa is trending in the right direction. Minny is looking to end a three-game losing skid on Monday as they face the LA Angels.
