Netflix Drops “Intimate” First Look At Aaron Rodgers Doc Chronicling His “Difficult” Return To The Field

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers ‘ highly anticipated comeback will be explored in a new “intimate” documentary series from Netflix .

The streamer announced the news Monday ahead of his very first game of the season with the New York Jets. Rodgers has been off the field since he injured his Achilles in the very first week last season, which was meant to be his first as the team’s quarterback.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma will be a three-part documentary series that will follow the MVP’s comeback after tearing his Achilles. The series will explore”his life and career through the intimate and difficult parts that made him a household name on and off the field,” Netflix said in a release.

Netflix shared an exclusive clip from the series featuring a personal conversation between Rodgers and Dr. Neal Elattrache, the orthopedic surgeon who operated on his torn Achilles.

“I believe in the prayer of power and intention,” Rodgers says as the camera gives a glimpse of his bandaged foot. “And from the first night this happened, hours after that, I was surrounded by a bunch of really special people in my life. And we just laid down a lot of prayers.”

Now, the QB is set to lead the Jets in their first game of the season against the San Francisco 49ers Monday (Sept. 9) evening.

It remains to be seen whether the documentary series will explore Rodgers’ right-leaning political views, some of which landed him in hot water earlier this year.

Rodgers made headlines this year after he sparked a public feud with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel when he suggested on ESPN that Kimmel was going to be included in the “list” of sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s associates.

“There are a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, that are really hoping that doesn’t come out,” he said on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show . He noted he would “definitely be popping some sort of bottle” once that news went public.

Kimmel threatened legal action against Rodgers over the accusation. The claim also got him booted from The Pat McAfee Show and Pat McAfee himself issued an apology on air. But Rodgers has yet to publicly apologize.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma will comprise three, 60-minute-long episodes.

Religion of Sports, the production company behind Simone Biles Rising and McGregor Forever , will produce alongside Skydance Sports and NFL Films.

Aaron Rodgers: Enigma premieres on Netflix Dec. 17.
