Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman didn’t mince words when asked about today’s quarterback play during the “Monday Night Football” pregame show on Sept. 9, ahead of the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets matchup.

Aikman, the first overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft, spent his entire 12-season career with the Cowboys, leading the team to three Super Bowl championships in the 1990s.

Throughout his illustrious career, Aikman was named to six Pro Bowls and earned a Super Bowl MVP title in Super Bowl XXVII. He finished with 32,942 passing yards and 165 passing touchdowns and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Today, Aikman remains actively involved with the sport as an NFL analyst, offering his insights and expertise. On Monday, he didn’t hold back from criticizing the quarterback performances from Week 1.

"Quite simply, the quarterback play yesterday was not very good overall," Aikman said bluntly. "I saw some really bad quarterback play."

Aikman also noted that players in today’s game don’t take the same offseason measures as they once did.

"They don’t work together as often in the offseason or in training camp as they used to," Aikman added. "A lot of players simply aren’t practicing because of the sheer factor of injury."

Entering “Monday Night Football,” there had been only 33 touchdown passes over the span of 15 games, a significant drop from three years ago, when there were 61.

The dip in numbers has left some questioning whether defenses have improved or if the quality of quarterback play has declined, but Aikman’s comments highlight the notable difference in today’s game.

Aikman was surrounded by HOF coaches, OL, DL, RB, WR, LB, and DBs.... they made him look good. compare his stats to Dak's (who has had horrific coaching his entire career and very few likely future HOF teammates: possibly Parsons, Tyron Smith and Zack Martin). compared to Dak, Troy was an inaccurate interception machine, even with all those HOF teammates lifting him up. smh.
