Major highway that runs through California's Wine Country to close for overnight paving work

NAPA COUNTY – Caltrans has announced overnight lane closures on both Northbound and Southbound State Route 221 (SR-221) between Basalt Road and Napa Valley Corporate Drive, starting Monday, September 9, 2024. The closures are part of a scheduled paving project aimed at improving the roadway.

The closures will occur nightly from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m., with the final closure ending at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13. While one lane in each direction will remain open, motorists should expect delays as traffic lanes are reduced during the construction hours.

Drivers are advised to be cautious, slow down in the work zone, and stay alert for changing traffic patterns. All work is weather dependent, and Caltrans will provide updates if conditions cause changes to the schedule.
