Aaron Rodgers has perfect response after fateful fourth snap was another Jets disaster

Aaron Rodgers drove downfield to score the first touchdown of his New York Jets career after another miserable fourth snap of the season.

Back in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, Rodgers tore his Achilles just four snaps into his anticipated Jets debut following his blockbuster trade from the Green Bay Packers . He was sacked by Buffalo Bills pass-rusher Leonard Floyd, with Rodgers' cleats seeming to catch on the infamous MetLife Stadium turf.

Following the fourth snap, Rodgers had to be escorted off the field and was carted into the tunnel for further treatment, wearing a protective boot. His torn Achilles tendon injury was later confirmed, prematurely ending the four-time MVP’s first year in New York.

The arrival of Rodgers symbolized an exciting era for the Jets, only for Zach Wilson to take the reins. Wilson was one of three quarterbacks who played after Rodgers went down as the Jets stumbled to a 7-10 record.

Against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium on Monday night, Rodgers and the Jets offense suffered a three-and-out on his first drive back. On the fateful fourth play, as Jets fans held their breath, Rodgers found Breece Hall for his first pass completion as a Jet - but 49ers linebacker Fred Warner forced a fumble that was immediately recovered by San Francisco.

The 49ers went on to score the first points of the game via field goal, and Rodgers immediately hit back in perfect fashion. The 40-year-old - competing in his 20th NFL season - connected with Garrett Wilson on four passes for 45 yards while Hall found his rhythm behind an offensive line revamped over the offseason.

Hall then surged into the end zone to score a three-yard touchdown and give the Jets the lead. Remarkably, the Jets’ scoring drive lasted 7:07 - longer than any drive they had last season.

While the Jets are underdogs on the road against the 49ers, Rodgers declared his willingness to silence any critics and remind fans of his greatness. Ahead of the game, he said: “I think you always have something to prove.

“It just kind of changes who you're proving that to, I think, the older you get.”

The Jets had a boost before the start of the game when it emerged that 49ers' star man Christian McCaffrey was inactive due to a calf and Achilles issue . San Francisco lead 13-7 midway through the second quarter following a Deebo Samuel touchdown.
