Clippers Fan Goes On Social Media Rant After Anthony Davis Ignores 2 Young Fans In Malibu

Anthony Davis is in the final leg of the offseason, hoping to get in the best shape he can ahead of the new season in October. It's still vacation time for the US Olympian, who was seen enjoying his time in Malibu, Florida. Davis was spotted by two young fans who tried to get an autograph but were fully ignored. This led to an online Clippers fan laying into the Lakers center.

"Anthony Davis avoids two young fans at a Malibu Carnival. They are LITERALLY begging AD for one autograph and he NEVER even makes eye contact with them.. This is what's wrong with the NBA today, players have $100 million mansions and are so full of themselves that they think they are above little kids who idolize them."

"I remember 20 years ago seeing Corey Maggette at Universal Studios and being so hyped when I approached him for a photo. He was so nice and even talked a little about the Clippers with me. These little moments can change a kid's life.

"AD could have had the decency to BARE MINIMUM look at the kid and say, 'Sorry kid not today, but thank you for the support.' Instead, he pretended the kid didn’t even exist. NBA blasts us with “NBA cares” campaigns to protect their image. But a player like AD, who is barely an all-star, acts like this. Shame. Do better."

It's sad to see two young fans get ignored the way they did, but it's important to mention that NBA players are other human beings and they do not owe everyone they meet their time. Sure, he can make an exception for young fans, but that could just lead to an expectation that he would interact with every young fan he meets in public.

Not every NBA player goes out of their way to satisfy all the young fans who want to interact with them and it's fine. He's on vacation with his family and doesn't want to be hounded by people for autographs. People will feel differently about the Lakers center after seeing this, but I think it's perfectly normal for him to not want to constantly be engaging with young fans.

The outraged social media post by this fan is bizarre. Long-term fans of the NBA know that players function according to such quirks and don't bend over backward to accommodate every young fan they see. If people believe these players 'owe' it to their fans because they're multi-millionaires, those people are completely mistaken about how NBA players operate.

Davis averaged 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks last season. He will be hoping to win any lost fans from this 'incident' by showing his versatility on the court by embracing the role of the Lakers' best player as LeBron James turns 40 years old in a few months.

Speaking of LeBron, he was even criticized during the Paris Olympics for not engaging with young fans who hounded him, even yelling at one . So, it's clear these players value their personal space. No fan should feel entitled enough to demand their time and then be upset that they didn't get it.
