Rodgers Interception, Disappointing Defense Getting Jets Blown Out by 49ers, 26-7, in Third Quarter

After a strong start in the first quarter, the New York Jets have been unable to stop the San Francisco 49ers offense, as they now trail 26-7 midway through the third quarter. To make matters worse, in the Jets first drive of the second half, quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a tipped interception to Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, giving the 49ers possession right back, leading to another Jake Moody field goal.

The 49ers began the second half with an 11-play, 70-yard drive that was capped off by a five-yard touchdown from running back Jordan Mason. The touchdown was set up by a 34-yard sideline catch by fullback Kyle Juszczyk two plays prior. Juszczyk was able to get behind Jets safety Ashtyn Davis for a wide open catch.

Mason has continued to impress in his first career start, as he has 17 rushes for 88 yards and a touchdown so far in the game. The Jets defensive line has had little answers for San Francisco's running game as Mason has found holes behind his offensive line throughout the night.

The Jets offense has also failed to produce points since their first quarter touchdown, as they have just 100 total yards as the third quarter ticks down. In Aaron Rodgers' second start in a Jets' uniform, he has completed eight passes for just 76 yards and an interception so far.

The Jets defense will now have to make a crucial stop late in the third quarter in order to stay in the game and begin their season with a win.
