Michigan quarterback Alex Orji was the presumed starter during spring ball and into fall camp, but the Wolverines have gone with former walk-on Davis Warren as their main man on offense.

Since then, fans have wondered whether backup quarterback Alex Orji has what it takes to compete for or perhaps wrest the starting job away from Warren, whose Wolverines lost 31-12 to Texas this past Saturday.

On Monday, Michigan Coach Sherrone Moore updated Wolverines fans on whether or not Orji will have a chance to throw during game situations in the coming weeks.

Orji has been inserted into games at various times for the sole purpose of running on multiple occasions. The few passing attempts Michigan fans have seen have not gone well for the Sachse, Texas native.

Fans have grown frustrated about the predictability of Orji running the ball after he is inserted into the game. With little threat of the pass, they worry that the former four-star recruit is not being utilized properly, or worse, is not capable of completing passes at the Division-I level consistently.

"That's what he's done in the past (run) so that's the assumption, that's going to," Moore said .

"For us, it'll just be managing that and getting him in a rhythm and getting the team in a rhythm."

Orji has thrown the ball just twice this season , completing one pass for three yards. He has run seven times for 31 yards so far through two games.
