History was made after the updated AP Poll rankings were released on Sunday that features six SEC schools within the Top 7 alone, with Ohio State being the only non-SEC team this highly ranked.

Week 2 of college football produced numerous struggle wins and even upsets. Notre Dame, originally ranked No. 5 in Week 2, found themselves upset by the score of 16-14 by visiting Northern Illinois following a late field goal by the Huskies. With that upset, this allowed for these SEC teams to move up and create history for the AP Poll.

A graphic provided by the SEC on X shows where each conferenced team ranks in the updated AP Poll for Week 3.

Topping the rankings are Georgia, followed by Texas, who just beat reigning national champion Michigan in Ann Arbor, with Alabama sitting in fourth.

In the 88 years of the AP Poll existence, this is the first time in its history where this many SEC schools were ranked within the Top 7 simultaneously. The SEC has been considered the best conference in college football, especially since the latter years of the BCS era, as the national champion crowned from 2006 to 2012 were all SEC teams.

For Alabama, barring any losses by these teams, they will face three of these Top 7 teams in the coming weeks.
