The lives of student-athletes have completely changed since the NCAA adopted a new NIL (name, image and likeness) policy in 2021. Decades of pressure allowed some of the best athletes in the college sports world to finally sign lucrative NIL deals.

Nike, Cash App and Celsius are among the many major brands that have offered NIL deals to college and even some high school athletes. One school that has benefited greatly from the NIL era is LSU.

The university was featured in several magazines at the height of the NIL boom, thanks in large part to its athletes with massive followings on social media like gymnast Livvy Dunne and current WNBA star Angel Reese. The skyrocketing fame of LSU athletes and NIL's impact on college sports in general will be the focus point of "The Money Game," a new docuseries from Prime Video.

Per Amazon , the docuseries covers "a historic turning point in the NCAA upon policy changes on NIL rights — guaranteed to shape the trajectory of college sports forever — highlighted by the surreal experiences of LSU's top players, coaches and administrators." The docuseries also discusses the negative impact of NIL on athletes.
