Providing high-quality amenities, Erlanger installs free public Wi-Fi in its four city parks

The City of Erlanger has installed free public Wi-Fi in four city parks: Cahill Commons, Railroad Depot Park, Flagship Park, and Silverlake Park.

The addition, implemented at no cost, allows residents and visitors to stay connected while enjoying Erlanger’s beautiful green spaces, further enhancing the city’s commitment to modernizing its parks and providing high-quality amenities that enrich the community.

“Providing public Wi-Fi in our parks is another step in ensuring Erlanger remains a great place to live, work, and play,” said Mayor Jessica Fette. “We want to create spaces where our residents can gather, relax, and connect, whether it’s for work, learning, or recreation. Our parks are a key part of our community’s quality of life, and we’re committed to making them as accessible and enjoyable as possible.”

Public Works Director Kevin Quinn expressed pride in his team’s efforts to maintain and continually improve the city’s parks system, which includes 12 parks throughout Erlanger.

“Our crews take great pride in keeping Erlanger’s parks in excellent condition, and we are always looking for ways to enhance the experience for our residents,” said Quinn.

“With the addition of Wi-Fi, along with the constant improvements we are bringing to all of our parks, we’re excited to see how these spaces will continue to grow as central gathering points for the community.”

The announcement of public Wi-Fi coincides with the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony at Cahill Commons this past weekend, naming the park for longtime public servant, the late Kathy Cahill. ( See the NKyTribune’s story here. ) Community members gathered to celebrate this milestone and experience the newly connected space firsthand.

Looking ahead, the City of Erlanger is also preparing for the groundbreaking of its newest park on Erlanger Road.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on October 23 at 10 a.m. During the event, the city will unveil the park’s new name and theme, offering a sneak peek into this exciting addition to Erlanger’s evolving park system. This latest development promises to be a vital asset for the community, continuing the city’s tradition of creating outdoor spaces that support health, wellness, and connectivity.

To connect to the Wi-Fi at the parks, simply locate the network name, which will be named after each park, then connect. No passwords or portals are required to connect.
