Johnny Gaudreau's Widow Makes Heartbreaking Announcement at Funeral

In a heart-wrenching moment at Johnny Gaudreau's funeral, his widow, Meredith Gaudreau, delivered a powerful tribute and shared the heartbreaking news that she is nine weeks pregnant with their third child.

This revelation came just days after Johnny’s tragic death in a car accident on August 29, which also claimed the life of his brother, Matthew Gaudreau.

"John and I had the best six months as a family of four," Meredith Gaudreau said, via ABC . "These will forever be the best six months of my life. "There's specifically one week that I will cherish forever—it will be my favorite week of my life out of those six months. We're actually a family of five. I'm in my ninth week of pregnancy with our third baby."

Meredith, who gave birth to their second child in February 2024, addressed the gathering and spoke about the family's future without Johnny.

"Happy and heartbroken," Meredith said explaining how their children will now grow up without their dad.

Gaudreau, 31, was a star forward for the Columbus Blue Jackets and was tragically struck by a car driven by a drunk man while riding his bicycle with Matthew in Oldmans Township, New Jersey.

The driver, who was found to be intoxicated after having "five or six drinks," has been charged with two counts of death by auto.

Jonnhy's brother Matthew’s widow, Madeline, is also pregnant with their first child. A GoFundMe fundraiser was launched in support of Madeline and his child, which has already raised north of $650,000.
