Publix Buys Out A FL Shopping Center Landlord For $16.5 Mil. Specialist Calls Grocer "All Cash"

Floridians may know that lately, Publix has been aggressively buying the shopping centers in which it is an anchor - ultimately eliminating its landlord. I've written about the grocer buying out The Ramblewood Square Shopping Center in Coral Springs for $59 million as well as Davie Shopping Center and Regency Square at Broward for $83 million. And now, it has reportedly purchased Kissimmee's Town Center at Orange Lake for $16.65 million.

About The Town Center At Orange Lake: Publix is the obvious anchor for this shopping center located at 14896 E. Orange Lake Boulevard, but additional tenants are T Mobile, Millenia Day Spa, Pak Mail, and Orange Lake Cleaners. An Applebees and Hooters are nearby.

Patrons give the shopping center 4.5 out of 5 stars and have reviewed it over 1,300 times. Many appreciated the convenience of having multiple choices in one place. A reviewer named Macy wrote:

"Fairly typical modern Florida retail shopping plaza. Lots of good stores and restaurants. Easy access, (and) plenty of parking."

The Publix in this shopping center also receives 4.5 out of 5 stars. Many vacationers reviewed this store. A reviewer named Brian wrote:

"Nice store to stop at for our grocery needs while on vacation. Store was clean and the employees were friendly. Prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend stopping here."

The Purchase Of The Shopping Center By Publix: Orange County records indicate that Real Sub LLC, a company related to Publix, paid $16.65 million to buy the shopping center.

Grocery expert Mark Thompson has told the Orlando Business Journal that the grocer is a "formidable buyer" explaining:

"They're all-cash (buyers) and they don't have any questions about the anchor tenant."

The author is not affiliated with Publix or The Town Center At Orange Lake.
