Rumors around Avengers: Secret Wars ending the MCU have solidified with Agatha All Along executive producer Brad Winderbaum’s latest comments. In recent years, many fans have been wondering about MCU’s future direction after the Secret Wars release. Some believed the multiverse saga would end the MCU, while others thought it would reboot it.

So, will Secret Wars end the MCU or mark its new beginning? Here’s all you need to know.

Will Avengers: Secret Wars be the last MCU movie?

Avengers: Secret Wars will be the final entry of the multiverse saga, but it won’t be the last MCU movie. After its release, Marvel Studios will likely continue making new movies.

Recently, Brad Winderbaum sat down with Screen Rant to discuss where Katharyn Hahn’s Agatha character will fit in MCU’s larger picture. He also gave insights into the MCU’s future as there are only three years left until Secret Wars. “I think that’s [what] Secret Wars is going to be an amazing culmination to the saga. I think it’s going to make the journey feel like it was worthwhile,” he shared.

Will the Multiverse Saga end the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

No, The Multiverse Saga will not end the MCU. It will either reboot or semi-reboot the whole franchise and might continue with intriguing stories including that of the mutants, Spider-Man, or Fantastic Four.

Last year, Joanna Robinson, author of MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, unveiled Kevin Feige’s plans after Secret Wars in The Watch Podcast. She reiterates Feige’s quote about an MCU reboot. His quote revealed that the MCU might get a soft reboot so that they keep what’s working for them and eradicate what isn’t.

“We have a quote from Kevin Feige sort of implying that, like, Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot in which they can prune everything… That’s not to use a Loki-ism,” Robinson said. “[They’ll] prune everything that’s not working and just keep what is [working], or bring back people you thought were gone forever.”

If the Marvel boss sticks to his words, a semi-reboot can be expected near 2027 or 2028. Otherwise, the MCU’s plans to set up mutants could also provide an excellent opportunity to introduce The Mutant Saga as a follow-up to the Multiverse saga. However, an official confirmation is much awaited by fans of the billion-dollar franchise.
