BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A person was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle near Highmark Stadium following the Buffalo Bills game Sunday, according to Orchard Park, New York, police.

Police say they responded to 41 W. Abbott Grove at 4:49 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck.

Witnesses attempted to stop the alleged driver of the car, 40-year-old Alfred Santiago, from driving as the victim was underneath the vehicle. Santiago fled the scene, weaving around vehicles and driving on the grass, according to police.

The victim suffered extensive upper body injuries and was transported by EMS to the hospital in serious condition.

Santiago was charged with leaving the scene of personal injury accident without reporting, felony DWI and felony aggravated unlicensed operation due to a previous DWI conviction, among other vehicle and traffic charges.

    Additional charges are expected.

    The investigation is ongoing.
