COLLIN Gosselin has hit back at his mother's claims he had "multiple psychiatric disorders" by releasing private medical records to prove he has no mental health issues.

In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, he reveals how he believes his mom Kate Gosselin has ruined his lifelong dream to serve his country in the military.

Collin, 20, says he had no choice but to share the results of a psychiatric evaluation he underwent after his mom posted an extensive note on Instagram last July, which claimed he had many mental health issues and was "violent and unpredictable."

He was undergoing training in the Marines at the time of his mom's post last July and believes it raised questions about his suitability for a military career and ultimately led to his dismissal.

It comes after Collin accused his mom of physically and emotionally abusing him as a child including locking him in the basement and segregating him from his siblings.

Collin has had no relationship with mom Kate for years after she had him diagnosed with conditions including bipolar, autism, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and PTSD, put him on a cocktail of psychiatric medications, and institutionalized him in May 2016 when he was just 11 years old.

Dad Jon fought for custody of Collin while he was in the Fairmount Behavioral Health System in Pennsylvania, and Collin was finally discharged into his father's care in January 2018.

At home with his dad and Jon's then-partner Colleen, Collin was weaned off his medications under the care of doctors, Jon and Collin say.

Despite missing years of formal schooling that his peers received, Collin graduated high school with honors and joined the Marines - but his dream of serving in the military was to be shortlived.

"So I was in [Marine] training, pretty far through and I was very close to graduating and my mother made a post online and this post went insanely viral," Collin told The U.S. Sun.

"And in this post, my mother talks about how I have a large list of diagnoses.

"At the time I was in training, so I couldn't defend these attacks. I didn't even know what was going on until my friend actually mailed me a picture of the paragraph that she wrote.

"And it's upsetting that I'd hear about it that way, but this paragraph that my mother wrote on social media, it got around and it raised a lot of questions.

"Because of this post and the attention that it got, things started to get looked through on Parris Island. And what was discovered was that I was in an institution and from their side of things, from the side of things in the Marine Corps, they couldn't tell if these claims on social media ... were true or not.

Kate Gosselin's 2023 statement about Collin

Kate posted this statement on her Instagram page in July 2023:

"I never wanted to have to do this but I fell I have been backed into a corner and left with no choice. Although it saddens me to do so, I need to speak out now.

"My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years. For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility following years of outpatient treatment, which proved insufficient for his needs. The decision to admit him was made by emergency room doctors following one of his many attacks/ outbursts - this one involving his use of a weapon. Fast forward to the present day, and following Jon's removal of Collin from treatment, my son's unpredictable and violent behaviors have sadly continued regularly towards Jon, Hannah and others around him.

"Collins distorted perception of reality is one of the many issues that he has always struggled with. As many people who have family members grappling with mental health issues can attest, it is rarely and sadly surprising when complete fabrications occur and is just another heartbreaking facet of this fight.

"All parent child relationships are complex, but when mental illness is involved, it is incredibly complicated and painful, and certainly not easy for others on the outside to understand. All measure that were taken in our home were at the explicit recommendations of his pediatric psychiatrist and/or his team of specialists and were put into place to safeguard every member of our family, our friends as well as our family pets.

"Unfortunately, I believe Collin remains a very troubled young man who continues to needs a lot of help. His brothers and sister and I have not been directly involved in his life dues to his history of unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies towards us. What his sister Mady posted on social media recently is completely accurate and I deeply appreciate her bravery in doing so.

"This is all I have to say on the matter and I will not be discussing this subject ant further at this time."

"And that ultimately led to my discharge because I wasn't able to prove that I had a diagnosis and provide sufficient evidence that these were false until I got home.

"And that's when I sought out to get a professional psychiatric evaluation done. And that ultimately ruled out all of these diagnoses."

After Collin was discharged from his military duties, the Marines sent an evaluation request to a licensed psychologist asking him to examine whether he met the criteria for the six diagnoses he received as a child from Fairmount Behavioral Health.

Collin was eager to complete the evaluation to prove to the military he was fit to serve - and is still waiting to hear if that might be a possibility in the future.

The evaluation report, shared with The U.S. Sun, shows how psychologist Dr. Paul E. Delfin completed "a comprehensive psychological evaluation" of Collin and ruled out the six diagnoses.

It's very important to put these allegations to rest and it's important to me, for her [Kate], to come forward with the truth because I want nothing more than to serve my country.

In the evaluation, Delfin concluded that Collin "does not meet criteria for any of the diagnoses of concern" which were bipolar, autism, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and PTSD."

He added: "Nor do I see evidence to indicate any other psychiatric diagnoses or behavioral disorder in his current functioning."

Delfin declined to comment when approached by The U.S. Sun.

Collin was given Entry Level Separation - a type of uncharacterized discharge - from the Marines last year on the basis of "non-disclosure of the full pre-enlistment history" - shortly after his mom's Instagram post - although he is adamant he never tried to mislead anyone and was open about his medical history.

He says he now wants to set the record straight about his mental health.

"Due to these allegations that she posted on social media, my dream of becoming a US Marine was crushed and it was taken away from me... now I have to fight and do everything I can to fulfill that dream still," he said.

"So, you know, this is very important to me. It's very important to put these allegations to rest and it's important to me, for her, to come forward with the truth because I want nothing more than to serve my country.

When asked about his he feels about his mother's accusation he was "violent" he said: "It's upsetting because, you know, you think your mother's on your side of things and I wish that things never went this way and I wish I didn't have to come forward and put all this information out there, but this is very important to me.

"I wish she was on my side and I wish that these allegations weren't being made against me because I want nothing more than to be successful in my future, serve my country, have my own family and be happy, but I'm constantly having to defend myself. I'm constantly having to state the record."

    'TRYING TO DISCREDIT HIM'

Dad Jon hit out at Kate telling The U.S. Sun how he believes his ex-wife is deliberately trying to derail Collin's life and try and discredit him.

Jon said: "She tried to prove that he has mental health issues so he doesn't have viability when he talks to the press. So like, 'he was in an institution' 'Oh he's just talking like this because he has mental illness.'

"She discredits him by saying he's got all these illnesses. I believe, because he was institutionalized, he wouldn't at that time have been able to go to court and testify.

"So he was diagnosed with autism, bipolar, there was about six or seven on the list or even more... now he's the same but well he doesn't have any of this - doctors confirm this.

"People say you can't just institutionalize people. What the f**k you talking about people? Yes you can.

"Especially when they're little or if you feel threatened of that person.”

Kate Gosselin has declined to comment but her former lawyer Richard Puleo said in support of her that he didn't believe she did anything to "deliberately harm Collin" and "did what she did" to protect her family from what he calls Collin's troubled behavior.

    MARINE DREAM

Collin said he always knew he wanted to serve his country one way or another as a child - and discovered he loved the "brotherhood and camaraderie" he found during his Marine training.

"I remember like signing that contract and going off to training and stepping foot on Parris Island, I just remember the yellow footprints. I remember as a kid I never really knew what that dream [to serve my country] was, but when I got there it all clicked," he said.

"And I was like, 'Yep, this is what the dream was.' And that brotherhood and that camaraderie, and the leadership - how all my drill instructors and all the Marines on Parris Island carried themselves.

"It's truly an amazing, breathtaking organization and this country is lucky to the the US Marines."

Collin says he hopes one day he is able to appeal his discharge and rejoin the Marines, saying: "I want nothing more than to get back there and be able to fulfill that dream and be able to serve my country."

    KATE'S SIDE

Kate's former lawyer, who represented her during her last legal case against Jon, said: "I don't think the Marine Corps saw Kate's post and decided to throw Collin out.

"Could Kate's post have had some influence? Sure, I think it may have made them delve into Collin's history - but blaming his mother for being thrown out of the military is misplaced.

"Kate has no interest in saying anything, which is what she's done in the past."

Fairmount Behavioral Health System said they could not comment on individual cases but that "every day our staff strives to maintain a total therapeutic environment through individualized treatment for each patient."
