Good morning, Big Blue Nation. It’s a good morning because we’re another day removed from last Saturday’s loss to South Carolina in Lexington, one of the most disappointing Saturdays in a long time. Yesterday, Mark Stoops answered some of the questions surrounding the letdown game in his Monday afternoon press conference. You can watch that conversation on YouTube or read some of KSR’s stories out of the Monday Q&A:

Today, it’s back to work for everyone with Georgia, the No. 1 team in the country, on the schedule next. The Wildcats need to fix their problems in a hurry. “ Bottom line, we have to get better ,” Stoops said on Monday.

Bush Hamdan will take questions today

Monday was Mark Stoops’ turn to explain Saturday’s embarrassment. Today, that responsibility falls on Bush Hamdan , the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator, who answers questions after Tuesday practices each week. We will hear from Hamdan later this evening for the offensive coordinator’s diagnosis of Kentucky’s offensive woes. Several players from Kentucky ‘s offense will also speak after Tuesday’s practice.

Kirby Smart spoke highly of Brock Vandagriff

Down in Athens, Kirby Smart said some things about Kentucky in his Monday press conference. Former Bulldog Brock Vandagriff , now the starting quarterback in Lexington, came up in the discussion: “A lot of respect for Brock, his dad, his family,” Smart said . “What Brock did for this university is awesome. He was a wonderful teammate and just a great kid. Always put the team first and would do anything to help the team. He really helped our culture while he was here.” More from Smart on BVG and the Wildcats:

[Kirby Smart says Brock Vandagriff was ‘awesome’ at Georgia: “He really helped our culture.”]

According to KSR’s Matt Jones , Netflix followed Kentucky Football around last week for a new college football documentary coming out next year. Netflix’s cameras rolled on Kentucky’s preparation for the South Carolina game through the game’s outcome and postgame. The timing couldn’t have been worse. Still, being a part of a Netflix documentary is exciting. The SEC football documentary was first reported in May .

    A new KSR Football Podcast

After Stoops spoke on Monday, the KSR Football Podcast released a new episode with takeaways from Saturday’s loss. Watch the replay of the live broadcast below or find the new episode in audio-only form on Apple Podcasts , Spotify , or however you find your podcasts.

A new Fade This podcast is coming Tuesday afternoon

Matt Jones and I will preview Week 3 of college football and Week 2 in the NFL for a new episode of the Fade This podcast . Subscribe to the podcast, like it, and leave a comment for us if you like the new episode when it drops if you don’t mind.

    Basketball recruiting updates

College basketball’s fall recruiting period began last Wednesday, September 4. Mark Pope and his staff have been on the go ever since, building for the future of Kentucky . Some notes:

    — Kentucky extended a scholarship offer to Baba Oladotun , the No. 2 player in the 2027 On3 Industry Rankings . A small forward from Maryland, Oladotun is the first prospect with a UK offer in the 2027 recruiting class. Mark Pope watched and then offered Oladotun on Monday.

    — UK’s entire staff also visited four-star point guard Acaden Lewis on Monday. Lewis is a 2025 target that Kentucky wants to pair with Jasper Johnson . Lewis is reportedly open to the idea. We’re talking about it over on KSBoard .

Nate Ament , a 6-foot-9 wing, is one of the top-ranked players in the Class of 2026. Kentucky is still in hot pursuit after visiting Ament at his Highland High School (Va.) last week.

    — The staff got an early start on Tuesday. Assistant coach Alvin Brooks III posted a photo from a flight at 6:00 a.m. after getting home late Monday night. We’ll keep you updated.

KSR is back at KSBar and Grille today before two remote shows later this week

KSR’s morning radio show will be at KSBar and Grille today and tomorrow, and then it’s off to remote shows in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Country Boy Brewing in Georgetown later this week. Tune in from 10 a.m. to noon each day. Go Cats.
