With the Detroit Lions needing a wide receiver not named Amon-Ra St. Brown to step up in 2024, Jameson Williams looks primed to do just that after his breakout performance in the Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams .

Williams had the best game of his career on Sunday night, posting a career-high 121 receiving yards, including a 52-yard touchdown catch on a great pass from Jared Goff. He also saw some work on the ground, taking his lone carry for 13 yards.

With that stat line, Williams became the first Lions wide receiver in franchise history to post at least 120 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown and 10 rushing yards in a game, according to Detroit Lions PR .

Adding to that, Williams was the first Lions wide receiver since Calvin Johnson in 2014 to post 120-plus receiving yards and a touchdown in a season-opening game.

After the game, head coach Dan Campbell praised Williams, but also said that he did not think Williams even played his best game, which is scary for the rest of Detroit's opponents.

"He showed up," Campbell said of Williams, according to The Detroit News' Nolan Bianchi . "That was a big game...and the best part of it, he didn't even play his best ball. ... But it also shows the work that he's put in. ... He keeps taking these steps."

While there's still a long way to go this season, the writing was on the wall that the Alabama product had a good shot at a breakout campaign after looking much-improved throughout the offseason.

If Williams can keep it going, opposing defenses are going to have a massive problem when you consider they also have to worry about St. Brown, Sam LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs in the passing attack.

The Lions will return to action in Week 2 when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Ford Field.
