Brian Kelly shares LSU has contingency plans for impact of Hurricane Francine

Brian Kelly shared LSU’s contingency plan in the event of Hurricane Francine arriving in Louisiana.

Currently, the hurricane is in the Western Gulf of Mexico and will officially go from a tropical storm to a hurricane by the time it hits Louisiana. Based on the path of the storm , it could hit 100 miles per hour, a category 2, by Wednesday night.

Kelly shared what LSU would do in that event with a road trip to South Carolina on tap this weekend.

“Yeah, so we’ve already had, there’s one thing that I’ve learned about being here at LSU, there are plans over plans over plans when it comes to when people talk about hurricanes,” Kelly said. “So the thing that we’re clear on is we have a plan in place for Wednesday, Thursday, because that’s when, obviously it’s imminent.

“And then the next stage is thunderstorms on Saturday and then disruption of the game,” Kelly continued. “So I’ve already met with our strength staff for stretching purposes, our nutrition. So it’s been a long morning on hurricanes and thunderstorms on Saturday. So yes, we’re already on top of that. Thank you.”

LSU got its first win of the season by beating Nicholls 44-21 Saturday. Now, it’s time for SEC play. Unfortunately, the Tigers are banged up.

Kelly previously said he was sick to lose running back John Emery for the year. Not only that, defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory is also lost for the season.

“Obviously, we feel sick about John,” Kelly said. “You know, it’s just – sometimes you think about this and you just wonder, you know, how can this be fair in any way to this poor kid. I mean he has just overcome so many obstacles. You know, he’s in a non-contact situation, he sticks his foot in the ground, and he tears his knee up. So it is just so disappointing. He had surgery today – successful surgery.”
