NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal is loving the rivalry between WNBA rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. After all, it's good for the league and its growth.

However, if you ask the Los Angeles Lakers icon who is ahead between the two, his opinion is pretty clear. While he recognized that Clark is the "real deal," O'Neal is giving the edge to Reese for now.

O'Neal reasoned out that Reese has a national championship in college, which she won in 2023 with the LSU Tigers against Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

For what it's worth, Shaq expects the rivalry between them and the buzz around it to continue as fans wait to see who ends up with the better career.

"What makes it good for the game is it’ll be those two forever," O'Neal said of Clark and Reese, per USA Today.

"You can make little games of it. In college, Angel’s up one. Now you can say, OK Caitlin’s in the playoffs, is Angel going to make the playoffs? Little games that you can play that keep their names going. I’m happy for both of them, I’m happy for women’s sports."

It's quite disappointing that Angel Reese's 2024 season ended prematurely after sustaining a wrist injury that requires surgery. She was well in contention for the Rookie of the Year award against Caitlin Clark, but due to her health setback, the Fever star is expected to win the honor without competition.

While Shaquille O'Neal has Reese ahead of Clark, the All-Star playmaker can certainly get the edge soon. With the Fever heading to the WNBA playoffs and the Sky still in danger of missing out, it will surely add another chapter to their rivalry.
