New Mexico begins construction on abortion clinic near Texas border

Construction has begun on a new abortion clinic in Las Cruces, New Mexico, situated near the state's southeastern border with Texas.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the clinic will symbolize the state’s commitment to reproductive freedom for its residents and those traveling from states where abortion access is restricted.

Her office allocated $10 million in state funds for the project in 2022. While abortion remains legal in New Mexico, neighboring states Texas and Oklahoma have imposed strict limitations on the procedure.
