Boomer & Gio call out Kayvon Thibodeaux for brushing off question about Giants pass rush

Kayvon Thibodeaux had no interest in talking about the performance of the Giants’ defensive front in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings, asking reporters if “anyone else had a question” after being asked about the lack of impact that he, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence had on the season opener.

It was a response that Boomer and Gio couldn’t get behind, even if there was lingering frustration from the 28-6 beatdown.

“It was not a pestering question,” Gio said. “I mean, come on.”

Thibodeaux was a non-factor on the stat sheet on Sunday, starting a season in which many believed that the pass rush would be the main strength of the team thanks to the Burns trade, Lawrence’s star power, and another year of development for Thibodeaux. That wasn’t on display on Sunday, and while players might be frustrated, Boomer says Thibodeaux has to handle it better in what is now his third NFL season.

“Daniel Jones gets peppered with questions left and right and says ‘We have to be better. I have to be better.’ That’s all you have to say,” Boomer said. “You don’t have to go into great detail. Just be authentic and be honest.

“That’s not good. Not when you’re a first-round draft pick or a guy you traded for and got a huge contract. These guys gotta wake up. I think you’ll see them this week, simply because Jayden Daniels will be running all over the place. He might run into them a few times.”
